Vivi-tone / Acousti-Guitar By LLoyd Loar / 1936 / Guitar

Lloyd Loar together with partners Lewis Williams and Walter Moon established the company ViviTone in late 1933. This Vivitone Acoust-guitar is from 1936, it features an unique design and it’s a rare find. The guitar is built with a high standard, most certainly Gibson of that era kind of quality. Also the deep V mahogany neck profile feels familiar to vintage Gibson players and the ebony fretboard is equipped with bar frets. The ivoroid body and neck bindings match the narrow headstock with an ivoroid veneer and screened Vivi-Tone logo. But that is not what makes this guitar as unique as it is. The radical and eccentric design is that the guitar basically turns the guitar inside out a bit, making the arched solid spruce back as much as a soundboard as the top. This soundboard back thus, is responsible for producing the sound, therefore it is recessed into the back for it to avoid contact with the. It features two small soundholes under the bridge and two f-holes on the hand carved back to project the tone to the audience and the player. The sunbursts reminisces of Loar-era Cremona Brown Gibson finishes and the headstock is equipped with the original open back Grover tuners. The condition of the this rare ViviTone is Good as It has a great playability but one crack on the top and two cracks on the back, all have been repaired in the past, however these repairs probably won’t win cosmetic prices, constructively they are fixed. Besides that it has the kind of wear you can expect. Travels in an old but newer case that does not fit the instrument too snugly. ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
