Vuorensaku Guitars / D-25M / 1981 / Mahogany / Guitar For Sale
After purchasing this guitar, I did what I always do; I brought it back to the Elkcave, detailed it and restrung it with fresh strings. Now comes the good part and I always play the same three chords-G,C and D. So, when I played those chords on this D-25, it didn't quite sing out as I expected. I mean, this is a mahogany dreadnaught and it should sound all warm and woody, but nope, that's not what I was getting. "Something is amiss," I said to myself.
So, I took the guitar to my tech, the one known only as "El Jefe" and told him what was happening. He played the guitar for a minute and said, "Aha" (that means that he knows what's wrong.) He pulled out a business card and slid it under the back of the bridge. He said, "You see that? That's why it sounds muffled. The bridge is lifting." Of all the things I never thought of, this was one of them and after I asked him if he could fix it, he simply said, "I got this, man. See you in a week."
Now that the bridge has been re-glued, we have a different story- this D-25 mahogany beauty sings out like a bird and sounds like it was supposed to. I'll give it credit where it's due- it's one of the best-sounding acoustic guitars I've played for under a grand and now I'm going back to my "warm and woody" description. It's all that and a bag of chips, folks.
Being over 40 years old, this bad boy does show typical signs of playwear, but it's crack-free and still in very good condition. It has a brand new set of John Pearse strings and will arrive ready to go. It's the best "front porch" guitar you'll buy this year! Take a look at the photos, let us know if you have any questions and as always, we thank you for stopping by!
