Wal / Custom MK1 / 1985 / Wenge / Bass

1985 Wal Custom MK1 in excellent condition. Brazilian mahogany core, African wenge faces, Indian rosewood fingerboard. Serial number:W2569. Weight: 10 lbs 0.2 oz. These Wal basses are hard to come by, especially in excellent condition like this one.

The body is in very good shape, with only minor buckle rash, the neck is in excellent condition, the headstock has a few very small dings along the top edge. The neck is straight and in very good condition and the truss rod works as it should. There's one small ding in the edge of the fretboard around the 10th fret on the E string side.

It's been fully set up in our workshop with a fresh set of Rotosound nickel round wound strings. Nut width:22.2mm  Width at 12th fret: 41.9mm

The electronics all work as they should. It has Wal flat response, humbucking pick-ups that contain individual matched pick-ups for each string, thus eliminating imbalances. It has a built-in balanced XLR DI and a standard ¼ “jack output for amplifier feed.

CONTROLS

Volume Knob:- rotary adjustment of output volume, pull to actuate pick-attack. A narrow band of high frequencies is added to the overall tone-setting to provide dynamic, percussive attack. Both overall output level and level of pick-attack are trimmable from inside the bass.

Pick-up Mixing Knob:- This silently mixes the levels of the pre-EQ'd pick-ups to any desired ratio whilst keeping the combined output level constant.

Tone-Knobs:- These operate electronic, low pass filters whose roll-off frequencies vary with the position of the control. Fully clockwise at 10, the spectrum is full and flat. As the controls are backed off, the spectrums of the appropriate pick-ups are foreshortened. (Roll-off 12dB / Octave). The dominant tone character varies, therefore, throughout the entire range of control. Pulling-up the knob produces a quasi-parametric boost of about 10dB to the harmonics
