The Buzzard LTD 2003 is a bass worthy of limited edition distinction and is the brainchild of the late bass legend John Entwistle and Warwick founder Hans Peter Wilfer. The two originally collaborated on this bass in 1985 when John asked for help to create a bass based on his unique ideas of how it should look and play. What makes this example so special is that it is the 2nd one produced & perhaps the 1st one delivered (did Warwick keep the 1st one?) to the public. The untamed body shape and neck-through design form a distinctive bass guitar that sounds as wild as its guise. The Zebrano (aka Zebra Wood) body is complemented by an ovangkol neck with a wenge fingerboard, complete with numeric fret markers (actual numbers) custom inlaid of paua abalone w/a headstock that’s unmistakably unique with its inline tuning heads. When speaking to Warwick apparently Hans Peter Wilfer personally sees every one of these guitars to give it the seal of approval and then signs them. The guitar was designed by John Entwistle of The Who (I expect you knew that) along with Hans Peter. The Buzzard Limited Edition is a groundbreaking instrument from the Warwick Custom Shop with a unique shared history with one of Rock n Rolls best known bass icons. This body style was developed by Hans Peter Wilfer in 1985 to satisfy the special needs of the late Who bass player John Entwistle. None besides Warwick can claim to be the original, and the bass reflects the unusual colaboration between Warwick and the Ox in the mid 80’s. The premium wood made for this Limited Production run was personally selected by the Master of the Warwick Custom Shop. The specialized Warwick Custom Shop team sawed, shaped, assembled and hand finished each instrument in the true Warwick style, every single instrument is approved by Warwick Founder Hans Peter Wilfer and signed with his signature on the back of the headstock to assure the outstanding quality of this Custom Shop Instrument.
