History
The 1960 Watkins Monitor is an utterly stunning piece of British amp history. Specially designed for the UK based The Shadows. The Monitor represents the crown jewel, and golden age of Charlie Watkins innovation, built in an extremely limited run.
The Monitor is know to be a precursor, or prototype of the Watkins Joker with this model even have the Joker Power Drive 30 power amp section in their assembly.
Little is known about these mysterious amp but some information indicates that no more than 6 of the 100 Monitos built were made by Charlie Watkins and Watkins Electric Music, exclusively for the British band “The Shadows” A photo of The Shadows” from approximately 1960 proves their use of at least one Watkins Monitor from a performance attended by Princess Margaret of the Royal family.
