Weissenborn / 0-size Style B Parlor, All Flamed Koa / 1925 / Guitar
Weissenborn 0-size style B Parlor, ca. 1925, All flamed Koa, amazing condition, Case, EC
This is quite a unique Herman Weissenborn Parlor size O, made of all solid Koa and in exceptional original condition. We all know Weissenborn set a standard when it comes to hawaiian guitars, but he also made some parlor guitars that are regarded highly. Hermann C. Weissenborn emigrated from Germany around 1902 and first settled down in New York as a violin and piano maker and repairman until 1910. After this, he moved to Los Angeles, where he followed with his activity. A few years later, he extended to guitar making, including ukes and steels as hawaiian music gained popularity in the mainland. Weissenborn built the finest hawaiian instruments that are considered among the best ever built to this day. His famous tear-drop and Kona guitars are famed and playing these - we have a few in our shop- makes you realize what a great craftsman he was. He died in 1936 when also the shop ceased to exist.
This style B flattop Parlor is an impressive heritage of his craftsmanship, all original condition, featuring Solid Koa Back and sides, and solid Koa Top, unique flamed Koa Neck with flamed koa Headstock overlay, the original Weissenborn “Bat Wing” bridge with original brass saddle, production must be around 1925, This guitar features a X braced steel string construction, a size '0' 345mm (13.5") width at the lower bout, but with a somewhat deeper 108mm(4 ¼”) depth at the lower bout and 89mm (3 ½”) depth at the upper bout. This almost 90 year old guitar is amazing in many ways, tonally impressive with a typical 1920's -30's bluessie character but most of all a unique tone that is significantly different from similar Martin and Gibson guitars of that era. Classy and impressive, most easy to play, with low action and great feel. Then the condition, that is crack-free with all original finish, there is some obvious but light crazing in the finish, and of course some signs of use, but all very modest. The detailing is almost minimalistic but still showing signs of the decade it was made in, with cream binding on top, and slotted headstock, original wave bat wing pin bridge, the original bone nut, even the frets seem to be original, original Fleur-de-lis engraved tuning machines, matching cream buttons. It looks like a 14 fret on first sight but is a 12 fret with Ebony fingerboard measuring 47mm (1 7/8”) at the nut, 62mm (2 11/25") wide string spacing at the bridge, and a 635mm (25") scale length, comes with a newer hard case.

The Fellowship Of Acoustics, Netherlands
ABOUT US
I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out.
