ca. 1923-1927 Weissenborn Style 3, no serial. A style 4 was the most fancy, and therefore rarest of the Weissenborn family, it is indeed very rare to find one in Europe- certainly finding two, as this is the second in our stock. This Weissenborn is made of figured solid Hawaiian Koa, and full solid body construction, that features a X bracing, Rope binding on the top, back and fingerboard extension, back, fingerboard and soundhole, matching koa head-facia, original 3-on-a-plate tuners, original dot and diamond fingerboard inlays typical for style 3, and very nice older arched case with musical scroll on top. it weighs next to nothing and sounds like thunder, and what a fulfilling sound, there is simply no comparing to an almost 85 year old Hawaiian koa Weissenborn. So far it's exactly the same as the other (style 4) Kona we have in stock, this one however is all original finish, had no other work done than a side-crack-repair, and a nut change.All the finish is original, so is the bridge and are the tuners, Scale length is approx. 635mm (25"), 49 mm width at the nut, (1 7/8"), Overall length is approx. 95cm (37 1/2"), 33cm width at lower bout (13") and 10.5 cm depth at the end-block (4 1/8"). Except for the repaired side crack this Kona is overall beautiful condition certainly considering it's 85yrs of age! with later case,
