Yamaki / YW-60 / 1975 / Guitar
Welcome,
Here is Yamaki's answer to the Martin D45 style guitar.
The YW-60 was top of the range in the 1975 Yamaki catalogue, it is a superb thing and about the best of Japan at the time.
This guitar can be dated circa 1975 with serial number shown, which, at the time is literally a sequence number and does not contain the production year, also the Grover style machine heads indicate 1975, early 1976, they were not used in later years.
Of the time this model, being the top model, is of all solid wood construction, with the best grade materials available, along with the Brazilian rosewood fretboard, so this is a top spec piece and it sounds truly amazing!
This guitar is easily on par with our shop guitar which is a 1971 Martin D-41 valued at four times the asking price here!
Condition wise, excellent shape nearing 50 years, there is some lacquer weathering as pictured and the guitar has some histories and character wear, yet no repairs.
We describe the guitar here as 'very good' in context with a 50 year old guitar, and common sense.
Plays well with a relatively low and easy action, if asked we will service and set up the guitar to and given preferences.
An amazing piece of Japanese luthier craft
