David Thomas McNaught DTM / Tiger #20 / 2000 / Translucent Peacock Blue / Guitar For Sale
Up for sale is a DROP DEAD MINT 2000 David Thomas McNaught DTM limited edition Tiger with white Korina neck and body, double stained translucent blue finish over stunning diamond quilt top. It looks like the guitar has a neck thru body construction but the neck was actually set thru deeply into the body which offer endless sustain, a unique feature that is only offered by DTM.
The guitar has 24 frets and Tiger inlay covers almost the entire ebony fretboard. The neck has a comfortable V profile. The headstock and the neck were bound with flame maple. The attention to detail and craftmanship is 2nd to none.
The guitar was loaded with a new set of PRS light gauge strings (0.010”-0.046”). A pair of custom wound Seymour Duncan blackback pickups were installed. This guitar sounds so great, this is one of the best sounding axe among the numerous guitars that I have come across thru the years.
McNaught would only built 100 Tiger and this one is the #20, early serial number 1xx and was built in 2000. It is well known that Dave hand built every one of the guitar and handle each process with care. This guitar is the highest quality instrument you will get for the money. You may ask for a price quote from the major manufacturers or other boutique guitar builder and see how much they will charge to make one with similar spec.
McNaught guitars are collectible, old one with all the original features are even more collectible. One important feature is the neck heel. It was shaved to give a very comfortable profile. Accessing to the highest frets is easy and comfortable. This feature was discontinued for a few years and could not be found on new DTM guitars.
The guitar does not come with a certificate of authenticity, since DTM did not offer COA when this was made. However, you could contact DTM if you have any question regarding this guitar.
