Here is my highly coveted and precious Dr. Z stangray which was modified by Kenny Fischer (RIP) founder of Trainwreck circuits. This amplifier is just plain amazing. It uses an EF86 in the front end, a quad of EL84 for 40W of power and is tube rectified with a GZ34. It has two prototype celestion alnico blue speakers which Kenny provided, one of which was professionally reconed here in houston with the correct celestion kit.
The amplifier is incredibly simple with just three controls, but has harmonic complexity and overtones like none other. I dare say this is as close as you can get to a Trainwreck Rocket without paying $50K! The amplifier has incredible natural breakup and sounds great with just about any type of pickups, but shines with single coil pickups.
This amp, before it was modified, was used by Brad Paisley on the Today show. Kenny watched the show and thought the amp sounded great, so he told his friend to go buy it from Gene at Ultrasound in New York City who had provided the backline for the show.
