Fender / 69 Reverse Stratocaster (Voodoo) + Upgrades / 2002 / Olympic White / Guitar For Sale
This guitar is in EXC+ to near MINT condition. Production of these guitars was limited to 2001 and 2002. As I understand it, the Hendrix foundation sued Fender over the release of the USA Voodoo Strat which included an image of Jimi on the neck plate. As a result, the Voodoo Strat production was halted and Fender ran out the remaining stock as the '68 Reverse Strat Special, but without Jimi's image on the neck plate (standard Fender plate).

As a result, the Voodoo Strat production was halted and Fender ran out the remaining stock as the '68 Reverse Strat Special, but without Jimi's image on the neck plate (standard Fender plate). However, as you can see from the photos, the previous owner has upgraded the neck plate to an aftermarket plate that has Jimi’s face engraved on it which looks cool.
The '68 Reverse is essentially the same as a Voodoo Strat: special reverse left-hand neck with large headstock (post-CBS style), left handed slant on bridge pickup, and three single-coil pickups with reverse staggered pole pieces. Provides the same string tension and signal path as Jimi's Right-turned-Left strats, but with a body shape and control locations that are familiar for a right-handed player.
This particular guitar was made in 2002 according to the date stamped on the neck joint, I have dissembled the guitar and took and few pictures. If you have played this series of guitar, you might agree with me that the original pickups are too bright. I have replaced them with a set of great sounding Fender Custom Shop 69 reissue pickups (initialed and dated by Abigail Ybarra), I have also upgraded the tone cap to Bare Knuckle 0.022uF. I have added shielding on the pickup cavity of the body and ensure everything is properly ground. Last but not least, the middle tone knob is a push-pull pot that hook the neck and bridge pickup in parallel to get that…tele tone.
The guitar is very, very lightly played but was well taken care for. Please see all the pictures which indicate the excellent condition of this guitar. It has some light pick marks on the pick guard and some minor nicks at the back or at the side of the body which are difficult to be captured by my camera, please refer to the last photo.
It weighs in at 8.5 pounds. It comes with a Fender hardcase. Excellent condition as documented by the pictures. Plays and sounds great. Very resonant collectible guitar.
Please view all the pictures and ask any questions.
