VALLEY ARTS CUSTOM PRO
This guitar is highly collectible and it is a one off Custom pro that was made in the Hollywood Valley Arts famous Custom shop in the late 1980s.
Valley Arts from 1985 - 1992 they only made approx 2,200 Custom pros including the Steve Lukather and Lary Carlton models. The factory then was destroyed and Vallet Arts was sold to Samick and then to Gibson.
That period they were the most expensive and best boutique guitars ever made in the US. More expensive and more sought after than the Pensa - Suhr.
At the time that a PRS Signature Custom 24 sold for 1,700 Pounds , this Valley Arts sold for 2,500 pounds in England. That was almost 25 years ago.
Today all of them are collectibles and specially the ones with the 1 piece quilted or flame maple bodies.
Out of those they only made less than 200 with 1 piece solid quilted or flame maple bodies. Only one tree in 1000 can produce 1 piece body. Extremely rare and super expensive. The wood alone costs almost US$ 2,000 today.
This one is one of the very first with serial number VA 0346.
Besides, if you look at the neck joint this guitar has the very special Interlock system of Bolt on. Only 28 were ever made.
The color is transparent copper, a VERY rare and unique color and difficult to make.
That was a special custom order, perhaps for someone famous in L.A.
