This is a short scale banjo with 17 frets made in Boston, Mass. with the Whyte Ladie tone ring. It has a resonator which attaches to the body with a central screw. The neck is made from maple with a central laminated stripe in darker wood for strength. The grained fretboard is also bordered in a black line.The ebony finger board is in good condition as are the frets. The skin is new and the serial number on the rim matches the number on the square dowel. It reads Whyte Ladie Style R 79658 which dates it around 1926. The sound is deep and punchy and is great for playing irish traditional tunes. Price £890 plus postage and packing.
